The latent heat storage unit is for a heat-pump system, having a water-filled vessel buried in the ground and through which a heat-exchange pipe runs, connected to the pump and containing a heat-transfer liq. The vessel is formed by a serpentine pipe (5) laid in the ground (3), and inside which the heat-exchange pipe (4) runs. The ends of the pipe (5) can both be closed, or alternatively connected together via a circulating pump. The pipe forming the vessel can be connected to a water tank, preferably a rainwater butt. It can also contain a further pipe for a heat-transfer liq., connected to a heat-absorber.
