Container with phase change material (PCM) units for maintaining constant temperature

A reusable transportation container 20 for transporting temperature sensitive goods includes a substantially rigid body having a thermally insulated storage volume 22, and means for accessing the thermally insulated storage volume 22. A set of phase change material (PCM) units 37 that can be inserted into and removed from the thermally insulated storage volume 22 are provided. The set of PCM units 37 is constructed and arranged to fit together to form a hollow structure that provides a substantially enclosed payload volume for receiving the temperature sensitive goods. The set of PCM units 37 is arranged to maintain the goods stored in the payload volume within a selected temperature range when in use. A support means 47 is arranged to maintain the relative positions of the PCM units 37 in the storage volume during transit. Preferably the transportation container 20 is put to storing organs for transplant. There may be provided two sets of PSM units, a first set changing phase at a first temperature, and a second set changing phase at a second temperature. A data logging device for recording temperature date measured by sensor devices may also be provided.
