Stepped solar still is modified with compartment to enhance the productivity. The wick materials, heat storage materials, fins, pin fins, and phase change materials are used. Wick materials increase free surface water area, sensible heat storage material supply more heat energy to basin water fin increases basin area and Phase change materials (PCM) supply heat energy to water even after sun set. So the productivity of the solar still increases.
