This present invention relates to the field of phase change materials. In particular, it is a novel composition lor energy storage, preferably at -23°C. The invention also relates to a process of preparing the said. The cold energy storage material includes a mixture of water, Sodium Chloride, one or more nucleating agents, a thickening agent and a preservative which are mixed together in appropriate proportions to form a phase change material with a phase change temperature of about -20 C to -25°C and at the same time avoid any super cooling and formation of any other form while cooling considerably.[IN-DEL-2007-01440A]
