LOW OXYGEN OVERVOLTAGE LEAD ANODES Abstract Anodes made of lead or lead alloys, used for theevolution of oxygen from sulphuric acid solutions,particularly in metal electrowinning processes, aremade more catalytic by treating them in an oxidizingbath of hydra-ted mol-ten salts, in particular comprisinghighly oxidizing persalts or nitrates, of cobalt, ironand nickel. After treatment, the anodes exhibit an extraordinarylow oxygen overvoltage and allow a considerable saving ofenergy in comparison with untreated anodes.
