A system (100) for producing vehicle routes such as aircraft flight plans (120, 410) in the presence of weather and other hazards (120, 420) defines static and moving hazards with polygons (220, 230, 430) drawn on a display (152, 400) containing graphic hazard regions (420). Different hazard types (421-429) and intensities are displayed differently. Both lateral (401) and vertical (402) depictions are displayed, and hazards can be displayed temporally as well. Users input information (490, 500) and thresholds (480) for hazards.
