In a district public transport system wherein outer areas are served by buses manually steered on ordinary roads whereas inner areas are served by the same buses automatically steered on special high-density narrow tracks which may be elevated and are provided with guideways, the special track is laid out as a plurality of radial tracks interconnected by an inner ring of circumjacent spiral tracks. As shown there are eight spiral and radial tracks A..D', each spiral track extending through 180‹ to join an opposed pair of radial tracks and emerging under or over the adjacent spirals. By making only one change of bus at an appropriate station S 1 ..S 8 a passenger entering the inner ring on one track may emerge on any of the others, the stations having moving platforms so that the buses need not stop. Each radial track has a series of stations communicating with ordinary roads in herringbone or other pattern. Each of a large number of buses may thus travel over a closed circuit which is partly on ordinary roads (manual steering) and partly on highdensity tracks (automatic steering).
