71600-13 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a heat transfer compositioncomprising at least two members selected from the group consistingof:a) strontium hydroxide octahydrate;b) lithium hydroxide monohydrate; andc) non-hydrate forming chlorides or nitrates,wherein for a mixture comprising a) and b) the composition con-tains from about 40 to about 60 mol % of one hydroxide hydraterelative to the other hydroxide hydrate and for a compositioncontaining c) and a) or b), the composition contains from about 5to about 40% by weight of c) based on the total weight of hy-droxide hydrate. These mixtures have high caloric values and areuseful for a variety of applications such as preheaters for carengine cooling water systems.
