PHASE TRANSITION MATERIAL

PURPOSE: To provide a phase transition material excellent in stability, etc., and covering a wide range of melting points by mixing a predetermined amount of a salt not forming a hydrate or other hydroxide hydrate into Sr(OH)2.8H2O and(or) LiOH.H2O. CONSTITUTION: (A) strontium hydroxide octahydrate or lithium hydroxide monohydrate is mixed with (B) a salt to be selected from a chloride not forming a hydrate and a nitrate (e.g. NaCl, KNO3) in an amount of 5-40 wt.% based on the total amount of the hydroxide hydrate and further (or) added with 40-60 mole %, based on the amount of component (A), of other hydroxide hydrate to prepare a phase transition material. The obtained phase transition material is used in the heat transfer process as the accumulation resistant means and is suitably, for example, as the phase transfer material of a preheater for cooling water of an automobile engine to be controlled to a melting temperature of 60-80°C.COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO
