PURPOSE: To provide an inexpensive heat storage material with a high heat storing capacity which shows consistent fusion and freezing even under repeated heating/cooling cycles, prepared by adding BaFeO3-x(x is 0W0.53) as nucleator for CaCl2.6H2O. CONSTITUTION: The heat storage material is prepared by adding 40pts.wt. or lower BaFeO3-x(x is 0W0.53) as nucleator for CaCl2.6H2O to 100pts.wt. system consisting of CaCl2 and H2O and containing 46.5W55wt% CaCl2. CaCl2.6H2O has a disadvantage in that once fused, it tends to be supercooled. The addition of BaFe3-x(x is 0W0.53) produces a heat storage material which is inexpensive and shows consistent fusion and freezing even under continuous repetition of 1,000 heating/cooling cycles. It has a large heat storing capacity and is useful for heat storage unit for air conditioning and any other applications utilizing stored heat.COPYRIGHT: (C)1983,JPO&Japio
