1425591 Thermal storage heaters; water heaters; water coolers THERMO-BAUELEMENT AG 28 Aug 1973 40485/73 Headings F4U F4A and F4H A thermal storage heater for a liquid comprises a thermally insulated tank 60 having a hollow tube 64 extending from an upper corner diagonally into a lower corner which is formed as a separate compartment 66 by perforated walls 67, has an electric heater or a cooler 68 therein, and to which the liquid to be heated or cooled, e.g. water, is passed through a fitting 69 for circulation through the compartment by gravity circulation and over heat or cold storage material contained in ball-shaped elements 72 maintained within the tank but exteriorly of the compartment. The heated liquid passes into the upper open end of a tube 70 positioned within the tube 64 and is removed through an outlet means 71 in the compartment. The heat storage material may be barium hydroxide octahydrate and the containers 72 each comprise hemispherical shells joined by a flange 73 which are formed of stainless steel.
